On the new YouTube video player, you can play a game called Snake. For those who don’t know what game Snake is, it’s the one where “The player controls a long, thin creature, resembling a snake, which roams around on a bordered plane, picking up food (or some other item), trying to avoid hitting its own tail or the "walls" that surround the playing area.” You can learn more about it right here.

Now, in order to play this game you have to do a few things. The first step is to go to a YouTube video which has the new video player. Once your on the video, you can either pause the video which would be easier or you can let it run. Next, press the left arrow key on your keyboard and hold it down for 5 seconds. After you have held it down for 5 seconds, the game should pop up over the video. It would be easier to play if you pause it on a black background. That’s how to play Snake on YouTube!

I recently have been experimenting with a free advanced video editor for Linux. This editor is called KdenLive. It has many great effects for it and it’s like Sony Vegas as some people have said and I have to agree. One of the many effects is being able to produce a “green screen” effect.

The green screen effect allows you to replace the green background with any other background. This post is a tutorial on how to do that. The first step is of course, to open it up. Once you have KdenLive opened, you can create a new project with whatever settings you prefer. I recommend  using the 1280×720 HD setting.  Once you have it open go to project do the following.

  1. Add the footage of you behind a green / blue screen and drag and drop it onto the time line.
  2. Go back to project and add the clip, image, or video that you want to use as a background.
  3. Drag and drop that onto the time line below your main clip.
  4. Right click the clip of you behind your screen and go to transitions and add a composite transition.
  5. Try and stretch the transition all the way to the end of the clip.
  6. In the effects list under Misc there is a blue screen option, drag and drop this onto the top clip and then you should be able to set the color of your screen, click that and use the pipette tool and select the color closes to you then save.

The video above can help with some of these steps. You may have to adjust the variance to make it so your screen is completely or almost completely gone. Once you have the perfect variance you have successfully chroma keyed in KdenLive.

I hope this tutorial was helpful.
