February 2010 Archives

Today, Tuesday February 23, 2010 I got a new MP3 player. This MP3 player is of course.. the NEW iPod shuffle 3rd generation. The shuffle prices at $59.00 for the 2GB model and $79.00 for the 4GB model. It comes with the new ear buds that come with the iPod touch with the volume control.

I like the color of the MP3 player it’s green. I also like how it’s very small and light. Since it’s lightweight I can clip it onto my shirt or pants pocket when I skate and that way it will most likely not fall off. It’s great that Apple made it so you could hear what song your listening to as well with “VoiceOver”.

Lastly, what I like about it is how it connects via Jack to USB meaning the USB connector plugs in via the headphone jack to your PC or Macintosh USB port. Some things that I do not like about it are the fact that the ear buds don’t fit my ears so that’s probably my fault for my ears being so big or small. I also don’t like where the volume controls are on the shuffle because I may not remember what’s what and I have to look right at my shoulder to see it. Watch the video for more information.

Today, February 21st, 2010 the free-prize site Lockerz.com has added yet another way to earn PTZ(points). This feature is called “play” and if it isn’t obvious enough by the title, you earn points for well.. watching videos. The videos are hand picked by the staff at Lockerz and they include some music videos from Justin Bieber and Fall Out Boy. You can also watch films from Sundance Festival and so forth.

Each video you watch ALL the way – meaning you can’t just stop half way through gets you 2 ptz if you are a regular member. Now, if you have special Z-Lister status you earn 4 Ptz and they have a lot of videos so if you add that all up you get many points. I think this is a great new feature because the February redemption is soon and I can get some ptz for that. If you don’t have a Lockerz account you can send me an email by visiting the Contact page on my site and send me your e-mail. Preferably Yahoo or anything but Hotmail because that has been having some problems.

On Wednesday February 10th, 2010 YouTube launched a new feature entitled “Safety Mode”. Safety Mode is suppose to make YouTube a more friendly community. It does this by filtering out certain search results like “nudity”. On YouTube’s blog they state that no filter is 100% perfect so yeah some searches may slip in here and now.

I know YouTube does a good job at keeping the community clean though by removing those types of videos on the spot. I Think that this is great if you have kids whom you don’t want reading profane words and certain videos. You have an option to lock the safety mode on your browser so that nobody can turn it off with YOUR password so that’s pretty sneaky on YouTube’s end. This way your  kid can’t turn it off. I think this is great as it may help make YouTube a better friendly place on the internet.
